During the Dutch National Sustainability Congress in Den Bosch, fifteen organisations have taken a leap forward to a more inclusive agenda and acknowledge and include equal rights for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Intersex (LGBTI) people as part their approach to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). During a break-out session the manifesto was handed over to Hugo von Meijenfeldt and Mark Reichwein of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In 2015, global leaders signed the 2030 agenda for sustainable development, taken shape in the UN SDGs. Together, they embarked on a collective journey to solve tomorrow’s global challenges and ‘leave no one behind’. Unfortunately, the SDGs do not explicitly include equal rights for LGBTIs in their goals and targets. It was time for action.
Companies underwriting this Manifesto intend to develop policies to make equal rights and opportunities more visible and practical for their employees and clients, they will include equal rights for LGBTIs into their business and SDG approach and will monitor the progress made.
To realise increased inclusion of LGBTI and equal rights in the workplace in 2030, Workplace Pride, Alliander, Sustainalize and the signatories will further develop and improve the implementation of this Manifesto. Is your organisation committed to work towards better LGBTI inclusion inside and outside your workplace? Join our movement and sign the Manifesto: Let’s make each organisation a great place for all of us!
