IPCC’s AR6 synthesis report: a recap and the way forward
The IPCC AR6 synthesis report has been released, recapping the findings of the prior three reports and providing an overview of the status of climate change. The report states that global warming is of utmost importance for humanity in the near and long-term future, caused by unsustainable energy use, land use, and patterns of production and consumption. The report predicts that the 1.5℃ temperature target will be reached within two decades causing irreversible and adverse impacts on society and our ecosystem. However, immediate action to decarbonize emissions across all sectors and industries can help to reach the 1.5℃ target by 2050. The report emphasizes the importance of using regulatory, policy, and economic instruments to ensure decarbonization and climate resilience in organizations.
